From time immemorial we have seen it fit to worship a superior being. Different peoples have had different names for their mighty ones or gods as the world refers to them. The majority of people in this world refer to the Most High as God. That is the universal name observed by more than 95% of the world's population. The other 5% use a variety of names depending on their religion, culture and demographic they belong to. Whatever the names they refer to the Almighty by the question remains: Is it important which name we refer to Him by? And, do we need to worship Him? We will attend onto the answers to these questions momentarily but I think I need to give you some history about myself before we go further.
I cannot claim to be of superior intelligence or have had better life circumstances surrounding my life than the average man. But I have had experiences that caused me to sincerely ask the question is there a superior being and does he care about me? My searchings have led me mainly into religious circles and in particular the Christian religion. I suppose in many cases people have their beliefs determined for them by their parents, countries of origin and peculiar circumstance.
I found myself in a similar situation. Born on the Island of Trinidad in the West Indies where the Roman Catholic religion was well established. I went to a catholic school and attended the catholic church. But as time moved on I started to ask questions. And when I opened up the bible for myself I realised that things are not quite the way that I've been told.
My parents were not particularly religious. My father died when I was ten. So I did not get to know him that well. My mother on the other hand was of spanish, french and african origin and my father had left her with six children to take care of when he died. She had a primary school education and had not worked since before getting married to my father. I had one older sister and two older brothers. One of my older brothers, Robert, is still alive as well as my two younger siblings Jason and Sharon. So by the time I realised that what I've been told and what is suppose to be are not the same I was already an adult.
Over the years I've gone to churches which all claimed to be closer to the truth than the last but afterward I realised that all of them were not perfect. The earlier organisations all took it for granted that the Creators' name was God because their holy books said so. But later on when I inspected the books myself I began to find errors that began to suggest to me that this is not a cut and dry issue but something that needs investigating. The King James version of the bible was my bible of choice and I thought that this must be the word of Almighty God at the time.
Even to this time I realise that the truth in the King James version still shines through as it does in other versions of the bible. But then something happened. A friend with whom I was studying the scriptures with had an altercation with a Jehovahs Witness. The altercation centred around the true name of the Almighty. So I myself began to question is His name Jehovah, God, Lord, as is found in the King James version or could it be something else. Even though the question arose then it would be many years after that I finally settled the the issue of what is the creators name.
